PANORAMIC IMAGING
Cavendish Imaging offers digital OPG radiography of the whole dental arch as well as sectional OPGs, open-and-closed TMJ and sinus views.
The digital images are sent to the referrer as JPG images with a clear measurement reference, or in Dicom format together with a very easy-to-use Dicom OPG Viewer. The latter features interactive tools to measure distances, angles, adjust the image brightness/contrast and annotate the images. Click here to download the free installation file and User Guide.
Please indicate on the referral form which anatomical section you are interested in.
Referring criteria for panoramic imaging:
The referring criteria that we use for panoramic radiology are:
- For dental assessment if disease cannot be fully demonstrated on intra-oral radiographs
- In the grossly neglected mouth where caries, apical pathology and periodontal pockets >6mm are suspected clinically
- Prior to wisdom tooth removal or multiple extractions (but not as screening for unerupted 8s)
- Orthodontic assessment to assess state of developing dentition & presence/absence of teeth.
These guidelines are those that Cavendish Imaging follows to assist in the justification process so as to avoid the use of unnecessary radiographs.
CEPHALOMETRIC RADIOGRAPHY
These examinations are available in our Harley Street, Birmingham, Nottingham and Oxford imaging centres, with the full ceph digitisation service offered as an option. This service presents your patient’s Ceph image overlaid with a tracing and measurement analysis (for example Eastman, Ricketts). The analysis can also be customised for you: i.e. you may choose elements from different analyses as well as adding your own measurements. The report with the tracing and analysis is entirely paperless and will be sent via your cavendishimaging.com account. This also allows us to offer the service at a very competitive price.
Click here to view the tracing and overlay.
On your referral, simply select “Ceph Digitisation Report” and the type of analysis that you require (one or several) and you will receive it within 2 working days by email.
Please note that any diagnosis and prescription is the decision and sole responsibility of the clinician using the Digitisation Report.
Referral criteria for cephalometric radiographs:
The main clinical indications are considered under two major headings:
- Orthodontics:
- Initial diagnosis – confirmation of the underlying skeletal and/or soft tissue abnormalities
- Treatment planning
- Monitoring treatment process, e.g. to asses anchorage requirements and incisor inclination
- Appraisal of treatment results, e.g. 1 or 2 months before the completion of active treatment to ensure that treatment targets have been met and to allow planning of retention.
- Orthognatic surgery:
- Preoperative evaluation of skeletal and soft tissue patterns
- To assist in treatment planning
- Postoperative appraisal of the results of surgery and long-term follow-up studies
These guidelines are those that Cavendish Imaging follows to assist in the justification process so as to avoid the use of unnecessary radiographs.
